1 What are the factors
influencing project management? Explain the role of project manager.
Answer: Project
management: Project Management is the process and
activity of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources,
procedures and protocols to achieve specific goals in scientific or daily
problems. A project is a temporary endeavor designed to produce a unique
product, service or result with a defined beginning and end undertaken to meet
unique goals and objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or
added value. The
2. What do you mean by
software cost estimation process? Why software cost estimation is required?
Answer: Cost estimation can be defined as the approximate judgement of the
costs for a project. Cost estimation will never be an exact science because
there are too many variables involved in the calculation for a cost estimate,
such as human, technical, environmental, and political. Futhermore, any process
that involves a significant human factor can never be exact because humans are
far too complex to be entirely predictable. Furthermore, software
3 Define risk assessment.
Explain the elements of risk assessment and risk control.
Answer: Risk assessment: Risk assessment is the determination of quantitative or qualitative
value of risk related to a concrete situation and a recognized threat (also
called hazard). Quantitative risk assessment requires calculations of two
components of risk (R): the magnitude of the potential loss (L), and the
probability (p) that the loss will occur. Acceptable risk is a risk that is
understood and tolerated usually because the cost or difficulty of implementing
an effective countermeasure for the associated vulnerability exceeds the
expectation of loss.
4 What is conflict
management? How do we remove conflicts among team members?
Answer: Conflict management: Conflict management is the process of
limiting the negative aspects of conflict while increasing the positive aspects
of conflict. The aim of conflict management is to enhance learning and group
outcomes, including effectiveness or performance in organizational setting (Ra
him, 2002, p. 208). Properly managed conflict can improve group outcomes.
5 Describe briefly the
activities of software reengineering. Draw the necessary diagram.
Answer: Activities of
software reengineering: Reverse engineering is the
process of discovering the technological principles of a human made device,
object or system through analysis of its structure, function and operation. It
often involves taking something (e.g., a mechanical device, electronic
component, or software program) apart and analyzing its workings in detail to
be used in maintenance, or to try to make a new device or program that does the
same thing without using or simply duplicating (without understanding) any part
of the original.
6 What do you mean by
software testing? Why it is required?
Answer: Software testing: Software testing is an investigation
conducted to provide stakeholders with information about the quality of the product
or service under test. Software testing can also provide an objective,
independent view of the software to allow the business to appreciate and
understand the risks of software implementation. Test techniques include, but
are not limited to, the process of executing a program or application with the
intent of finding software bugs (errors or other defects).
It involves the execution
of a software component or system to evaluate one or more properties of
interest. In general, these properties indicate the extent to which the
component or system under test:
