Q-1. How process design and product/service design are interrelated? Explain.

Answer: Process Design

First, a process is an abstraction used to communicate or to govern workflows. A process is therefore an arbitrary set of related work items, aka. tasks, that shows creation of value and sets responsibilities. Processes can be limited by the boundary of an organization, especially when setting responsibilities, or can span several organizations whenever the value emerges from a collaboration. Therefore, the way processes are defined do not impact the work done.

Q-2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of assembly line process?

Answer: The assembly line was one of the key components of the Industrial Revolution. The principles of the assembly line allowed manufacturers to produce greatly increased amounts of products at lower cost and indirectly made for easier maintenance of products after their assembly. While the ideas behind assembly line manufacturing are a vital part of the way products are made and assembled today, it is also interesting to consider the disadvantages of these types of production systems.

Advantages

For manufacturers, the benefits of assembly line production are enormous. An inherent part of the idea of assembly lines is that each item produced from a certain product line is as close to identical as possible. This allows quick and easy assembly throughout the process, and it also means that maintenance and replacement of worn or broken parts is a much simpler task down the road.

Q-3. Discuss about the processes hierarchy in organisation.

Answer:  While processes make up people’s activity, process management refers to how we design, manage and improve processes in order to support strategy and deliver value to customers and stakeholders. Process improvement is extremely important, but is one sub-set of process management. Failure to recognise this is likely to lead to doing the same thing better, rather than challenging what the best thing to do is in order to achieve changing strategic ambitions. It is process management that enables an organisation to create new processes, eliminate superfluous processes and focus effort on the most important processes.

The process hierarchy model creates a shared and systematic understanding of high-level, key and critical processes. It enables your

Q-4. Write short note on Work Sampling.

Answer: “Work sampling is a method in which a large number of instantaneous observations are made at random time intervals over a period of time or a group of machines, workers or processes/operations. Each observation records what is happening at that instant and the percentage of observations recorded for a particular activity or delay/idleness is a measure of the percentage of time during which that activity or delay/idleness occurs”.

Q-5. Explain about the Performance of Forecasting Models

Answer: Forecasting models are one of the many tools businesses use to predict outcomes regarding sales, supply and demand, consumer behavior and more. These models are especially beneficial in the field of sales and marketing. There are several forecasting methods businesses use that provide varying degrees of information. From the simple to the complex, the appeal of using forecasting models comes from having a visual reference of expected outcomes.

Four common types of forecasting models
