Landfill: When
all the trucks arrive to the landfills, they first get separated into their
proper place; disposing of waste in a landfill involves burying the waste, and
this remains a common practice in most countries. Landfills were often
established in abandoned or unused quarries, mining voids or borrow pits. A properly
designed and well-managed landfill can be a hygienic and relatively inexpensive
method of disposing of waste materials. Older, poorly designed or poorly
managed landfills can create a number of adverse environmental impacts such as
wind-blown litter, attraction of vermin, and generation of liquid leachate.

Hazardous waste is waste that poses substantial or potential threats to public
health or the environment. In the United States, the treatment, storage and
disposal of hazardous waste is regulated under the Resource Conservation and
Recovery Act(RCRA). Hazardous wastes are defined under RCRA in 40 CFR 261 where
they are divided into two major categories: characteristic wastes and listed wastes.
Characteristic hazardous wastes are
materials that are known or tested to exhibit one or more of the following four
hazardous traits:

Air (Prevention and Control of
Pollution) Act, 1981: To counter the problems
associated with air pollution, ambient air quality standards were established,
under the 1981 Act. The Act provides means for the control and abatement of air
pollution. The Act seeks to combat air pollution by prohibiting the use of
polluting fuels and substances, as well as by regulating appliances that give
rise to air pollution. Under the Act establishing or operating of any
industrial plant in the pollution control area requires consent from state
boards. The boards are also expected to test the air in air pollution control
areas, inspect pollution control equipment, and manufacturing

The polluter pays principle (PPP)
