Q. 1.    What are the fundamentals of staffing and manpower? Explain thedifferent methods of selection recruitment, training and development.
Answer: Manpower management and planning forms the core of human resource management and deals with the human resources of an organization. It consists of the process of selection of appropriate individuals as employees based on their skills, making sure they are smoothly fitted into their assigned roles and the overall system, thus ensuring a smooth functioning of the organization. Besides selecting suitable employees, manpower planning also deals with the process of upgrading the existing employees. The human resources are the most valuable asset of any organization as they contribute to the realization of its business objectives. It is the human resources who contribute their time and expertise to the welfare of their organization. Thus, the



Q. 2.    Explain the nature and functions of Directing.
Answer: Directing involves guiding, inspiring and leading people so that they accomplish predetermined objectives. If the directing function is done well, work in an organization is efficiently and effectively done. The function of directing influences the subordinates and motivates them into meeting the organisation's goals. Directing function deals with human factor which is complex and therefore presents challenges to directors. After giving people orders on how things are supposed to be done it is essential that it is ensured that the orders are carried out. Q. 3.    Discuss the importance of Coordination in managerial functions.
Answer: Coordination means to integrate (bring together) all the activities of an organization. It is done for achieving the goals of the organization. There must be proper co-ordination throughout the organization.According to management experts, coordination is necessary because:
·         "Coordination is the Essence of Management." I.e. Coordination affects all the functions of management, viz., Planning, Organizing


Q. 4.  What is the importance of planning in an organization? Describethe different plans with their objectives.
Answer: Planning helps an organization chart a course for the achievement of its goals. The process begins with reviewing the current operations of the organization and identifying what needs to be improved operationally in the upcoming year. From there, planning involves envisioning the results the organization wants to achieve, and determining the steps necessary to arrive at the intended destination--success, whether that is measured in financial terms, or goals that include being the highest-rated organization in customer satisfaction.

Q. 5.    Explain the methods of Departmentation.
Answer: The process of the departmentation generally follows no stiff rules but the main purpose of carrying on with the process of the departmentation is to provide the level of the convenience to each of the organization. The whole or the total business activity is divided in to the work units as per the convenience of all the organizations.
1. Departmentation by the time –
a)      The main point here, on which the departmentation is based, is the ‘time’.
b)      People can be easily supervised.
c)       Working as the exemplified by the shift working in the factories, acts as a great example for explaining the departmentation by the time.
