Questions
Question.
1. Explain the following concepts
a)
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
Answer: Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the electronic interchange of
business information using a standardized format; a process which allows one
company to send information to another company electronically rather than with
paper. Business entities conducting business electronically are called trading
partners.
Many business documents can be exchanged
using EDI, but the two most common are purchase orders and invoices. At a
minimum, EDI replaces the mail preparation and handling associated with
traditional business communication. However, the real power of EDI is that it
standardizes the information communicated in business documents, which makes
possible a "paperless" exchange.
b)
Online Payment Technology
Answer: An e-commerce payment system facilitates the acceptance of electronic
payment for online transactions. Also known as a sample of Electronic Data
Interchange (EDI), e-commerce payment systems have become increasingly popular
due to the widespread use of the internet-based shopping and banking.
Over the years, credit cards have become one
of the most common forms of payment for e-commerce transactions. In North
America almost 90% of online retail transactions were made with this payment
type. Turban et al. goes on to explain that it would be difficult for an online
retailer to operate without supporting credit and debit cards due to their
widespread use. Increased security measures include use of the card

personal digital assistants (PDAs). Known as next-generation e-commerce,
m-commerce enables users to access the Internet without needing to find a place
to plug in. The emerging technology behind m-commerce, which is based on the
Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), has made far greater strides in Europe,
where mobile devices equipped with Web-ready micro-browsers are much more common

Answer: Decision Support System refers to a class of systems which support in
the process of decision making and does not always give a decision itself.
Decision Support Systems (DSS) are a specific class of computerized information
system that supports business and organizational decision making activities.

Question.
3. Explain why privacy is important for individuals in the organizations?
How
workplace electronic monitoring is done in the organizations?
Answer: The first is that privacy helps individuals maintain their autonomy and
individuality. People define themselves by exercising power over information
about themselves and a free country does not ask people to answer for the
choices they make about what information is shared and what is held close. At
the same time, this does not mean that public policy should shield people from
the costs of their choices. American privacy allows our many cultures and
subcultures to define for themselves how personal information moves in the
economy and society.
