Q. 1. a. Explain the causes of miscommunication at organizational levels.

Answer:In the workplace miscommunication can be blamed for a significant amount of conflict and the tension that it stirs. It would be unrealistic to think all miscommunication could be prevented, but if we understood its causes, the percentage could likely be decreased. Five common causes include:

1) Being unaware of nonverbal communication: A significant portion of miscommunication occurs without recognition. Through nonverbal cues, communication is often misconstrued and misrepresented. 

2) Poor communication between employees and company management: For communication to be fluid between employees and management staff,




Q.2 Write detailed answers for the following questions. (10 Marks)

a. What are the elements of persuasive messages? Please write the three-step writing process for persuasive messages.

Answer:Persuasion is part of the communications process. The five basic elements of persuasion--source, message, medium, public and effect.The quality of source--the person or organization sending the message--is very important in influencing how effective the message is. The source must have credibility. The more credible the source, the more persuasive it is. The best way to remain credible is to be honest and accurate all the time. Being liked by your audience is important to being able to persuade them.  The message is the lone aspect over which a writer has total control. You decide what to say and when and how to say it. b. Define an Oral Report. What are the characteristics of effective Oral Reports?

Answer:An oral report also has the same three basic parts as a written report. The introduction should "hook" your audience. Catch their interest with a question, a dramatic tale or a personal experience that relates to your topic.

Facts: - A company in retail segment. The company is currently holding 12 shops in the state with a staff of 350 on all the levels. The current turnover of the company is 700 crores. The company is planning to add 6 more shops by the end of financial year out of which 3 are opened recently. The company has shifted some of the current staff at the new locations, yet few of the shop managerial staff has been acquired anew from the competitor companies and have been appointed at the older as well as newer locations.

Problems:
1. There is a general feeling of dissatisfaction and stress in the staff.

Answer:Employers should look for ways to give employees more control over their schedules, environment, and/or work habits. For instance, employers could offer alternative work schedules such as flextime or telecommuting.
