Question.
1. Discuss the city editor.
Answer:A city editor is a title used by a particular section editor of a
newspaper. They are responsible for the daily changes of a particular issue of
a newspaper that will be released in the coming day. Mostly they stay at the
publication at night and track news that happens anytime.
·
In North
and South America it refers to the editor responsible for the news coverage of
a newspaper's local circulation area (also sometimes called metro editor)
·
In the
United Kingdom (often with a capital C
Question.
2. Discuss ‘writing the editorial’. Make a brief note on some well-known
editorials.
Answer:An editorial is an article that presents the newspaper's opinion on an
issue. It reflects the majority vote of the editorial board, the governing body
of the newspaper made up of editors and business managers. It is usually
unsigned. Much in the same manner of a lawyer, editorial writers build on an
argument and try to persuade readers to think the same way they do. Editorials
are meant to influence public opinion, promote critical thinking, and sometimes
cause people to take action on an issue. In essence, an editorial is an
opinionated news story.
Editorials have:
Question.
3. Write notes on cropping and scaling, while mentioning the six guidelines for
cropping, and the four ways in which editors can figure the reproduction size
of photos while maintaining proportionality (mention them very briefly).
Answer:Crop it - to simply cut away
some at the edges, to include less area in the final image. A little like
zooming in a little tighter, but done afterwords. Same action as scissors on
paper, so to speak, except we can still enlarge our image later, to print on
larger paper.
·
Cropping tighter can improve the composition by
removing empty or uninteresting or distracting side detail that contributes
nothing, and draws attention away from the subject.
·
Cropping tighter increases the size of the
subject in the frame, making it more dominant.
·
Much less arbitrary, cropping is often required
to make the image Shape fit the print paper Shape.
